The Amy D. Foundation is opening applications for the Equity and Opportunity Scholarship
With the cyclocross season already well underway, the Amy D. Foundation is seeking to support cyclocross riders looking to gain national experience in any race category with its Equity and Opportunity Scholarship based around the U.S. National Championships, December 7-12, 2021 in Dupage County, Illinois. The scholarships for each rider will include entry fee, housing, flights and on the ground mechanic and support staff while at cyclocross nationals.
The ADF Equity and Opportunity Scholarship will give women the opportunity to develop as athletes and to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to continue to excel at the sport.“We want to bring new energy into the sport and more representation which is so important for improving the state of women’s cycling and the sport as a whole” explained Executive Director, Julie Kuliecza. “We will be prioritizing BIPOC/LGBTQIA applicants to increase representation in the sport of cyclocross. We recognize that giving only riders in the elite category the opportunity for these scholarships may put limitations on our pool of applicants and may also put undue financial burden on riders as they must qualify for elite Nationals by gaining ProCX or UCI points to participate in elite nationals. Our goal is to open the sport up to more riders and make it more inviting and accessible.
The application process opens on October 3rd and will close October 22nd. Finalists will have final telephone interviews and the three riders selected will be notified of selection on November 2nd. For additional details please reach out to email@example.com.
