Stages Cycling presents ‘For the Love of Mud, a Film about Cyclo-cross’ from Benedict Campbell — all proceeds to benefit Boulder Junior Cycling and the Amy D. Foundation.

Stages Cycling, a Boulder Colorado based company, presented the World Premiere of ‘For the Love of Mud’ on January 9th at USA Cycling’s 2015 Cyclo-cross National Championships in Austin, Texas. The event sold out in a mere eight hours, and prompted the organization of a second late-night screening. The Boulder, CO screening will take place January 13th at the Boulder Theater with all proceeds benefiting the non-profit cycling organizations: Boulder Junior Cycling and the Amy D. Foundation.

Destined to become a cult classic for the crazy sport of cyclo-cross, ‘For the Love of Mud’ includes coverage from Cyclo-Cross Nationals in Boulder 2014, the World Championships in Hoogerheide, along with numerous Superprestige races across Europe. Interviews include top pros Sven Nys, Helen Wyman, Jeremy Powers, and Katie Compton, along with age groupers and rabid fans.

Cyclo-cross is a form of bicycle racing and consists of on- and off-road courses that are held on mix of surfaces including pavement, grass, and often mud. Obstacles such as barriers, steep climbs, sand pits exist throughout the course and force racers to navigate tight spaces and turn and often dismount and re-mount the bicycle, carrying it on their shoulders if needed. The sport first began in the Flanders area of Belgium and is usually held in the fall and winter seasons, and racers use specific cyclo-cross bicycles that are outfitted to handle the rigors of cyclo-cross.

“From the moment we signed on as the presenting sponsor of the Texas event, I had the feeling that we just had to bring this to Boulder,” said Matt Pacocha, Stages Cycling marketing manager. “Our success would not have been possible without the support of cyclists, teams, and local retail establishments here in Boulder. Our business isn’t even two years old, and yet we’ve gone from humbly selling our first meters to riders and racers in Boulder to equipping the likes of Team Sky, and world champions in all disciplines of cycling. We couldn’t have had this success without the support of the local cycling community, and we want to help give something back. We’re just so fortunate that Benedict is on board and so willing to donate his creative work in support of the sport of cyclo-cross and worthy causes within our community. “
